A total of 1,490,473 visa applications were processed, with a significant portion being national visas, according to information from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. Notably, the country granted 393,083 national visas in 2022, marking a substantial rise from the 304,773 issued in 2021. This noteworthy increase of 27 percent highlights the nation's proactive approach in the post-pandemic period.
Furthermore, it's notable that during the same year, Germany processed a total of 444,154 applications for national visas. The processed applications surged by 27 percent compared to the previous year, surpassing the pre-pandemic levels by nearly 60,000 applications, a significant increase of 15.42 percent.
Data from the Federal Foreign Office's report reveals that the largest chunk of national visas in 2022 was granted for employment purposes. The issuance of national work visas reached an impressive 152,336, solidifying Germany's appeal as a destination for individuals seeking employment opportunities.
